Most people change their wallpaper less often than they change their toothbrush, and stare at it roughly eighty times a day. The math on that is not flattering. We started this site because the gap between how much a wallpaper matters and how much thought goes into picking one has gotten embarrassing, and because the tools that claim to fix it mostly do not.
A wallpaper has three jobs: it has to read at a glance, it has to make the icons legible without the system forcing a dark blur over the top of it, and it has to still feel like yours after the sixth time you have seen it that morning. Anything that does not serve one of those jobs is decoration, and decoration is what we are trying to filter out.
If you have a tool we should be looking at, a brief that we are obviously missing, or a screen we should be testing against, write to us at [email protected]. There is no schedule and no roadmap and no newsletter. There is a list, it is getting longer, and we are working through it.
